Force plate in Walkbot Lower-Limb Robotic Rehabilitation (1)

Force plates or Force platforms are measuring instruments that measure the ground reaction forces generated by a body standing on or moving across them, to quantify balancegait and other parameters of biomechanics. Most common areas of application are medicine and sports.

Force plate can be optionally installed under the treadmill of Walkbot. Lower-Limb Robotic Rehabilitation.

During ambulation, forces are applied under the surface of the foot every time a person takes a step. The forces applied to the foot by the ground are called ground reaction forces. Ground reaction forces are measured utilizing force platforms embedded in the floor.
Lower extremity joint forces, torques, and powers can be calculated by combining the kinematic data, ground reaction forces, and anthropometric characteristics of the individual (Neumann, D. A., 2002, p. 526).
Through these data, the patient's necessary and customized gait training plan can be established.
