(Walkbot) Robot-assisted gait training with auditory and visual cues in Parkinson's disease

Highlights • Comparison of the effects of gait-training strategies for Parkinson's disease. • Robot-assisted gait training and treadmill training were randomly allocated. • Gait speed on the 10-m walk test did not vary between the groups. • Cognitive dual-task interference showed a training-related group difference. • The neural mechanisms of gait improvement differed by training strategy. Abstract Background Robot-assisted gait training (RAGT) may have beneficial effects on Parkinson's disease (PD); however, the evidence to date is inconsistent. Objectives This study compared the effects of RAGT and treadmill training (TT) on gait speed, dual-task gait performance, and changes in resting-state brain functional connectivity in individuals with PD. Methods In this prospective, single-center, randomized controlled trial with a parallel two-group design, 44 participants were randomly allocated to undergo 12 sessions (3 times per week for 4 weeks) of RAGT or TT. The primary outcome

Gwacheon City has launched a high-tech robot walking rehabilitation service for the disabled…Looking forward to improving the quality of life for the disabled

Gwacheon City announced on the 17th that it will lead the rehabilitation service project through advanced gait rehabilitation robot (hereinafter referred to as walkbot) as part of the project to strengthen the function of the disabled. Walkbot(워크봇) is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation robot that helps people with disabilities who have difficulty walking due to lack of muscle strength, such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, Parkinson’s disease, spinal nerve damage, and multiple sclerosis. WALKBOT Robot Assisted Gait Training System   Customized rehabilitation training through walkbot is expected to have a positive effect on improving walking skills, increasing muscle strength, promoting metabolic activation, and reducing depression of the disabled. Gwacheon City will start recruiting users for the disabled from the 21st of this month through the Gwacheon city welfare center, and will start providing services from March. Gwacheon Mayor Kim Jong-cheon said, “The introduction of
