Namyangju Bukbu Welfare Center for the Disabled, Pedestrian Rehabilitation Robot Opening Ceremony

Namyangju City and Namyangju Northern Welfare Center for the Disabled introduced rehabilitation robots for the first time in the northern Gyeonggi region. The opening ceremony for the walking rehabilitation robot was held on the 15th at Namyangju Bukbu Welfare Center for the Disabled under the theme of 'walk at your own pace, no one else'.

The city, the Northern Welfare Center for the Disabled, and P&S Mechanics Co., Ltd. formed a consortium for the '2021 Robot Utilization and Benefit Support Project' hosted by the Korea Robot Industry Promotion Agency.

The North Welfare Center for the Disabled in Namyangju plans to carry out a pilot project by March next year, and to implement the robot rehabilitation service ('Walkbot') in earnest from April. 'Workbot' supports safe walking rehabilitation for patients who have difficulty walking due to lack of muscle strength, such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, gait disorder due to Parkinson's disease, paralysis due to spinal nerve damage, or multiple sclerosis. , induces a natural gait according to the body weight.
Choi Man-seok, president of the Association for the Disabled, who participated in today's demonstration, said, "I experienced walking straight while riding a walking robot for the first time. I have always been very interested in rehabilitation treatment, and I am very much looking forward to the role of a rehabilitation robot.”
Another electric wheelchair user said, "I felt like I could fly because my legs were as light as a feather."
Deputy Mayor Park Shin-hwan, who participated in the opening ceremony, said, “I am very happy to implement a robot-based rehabilitation service, a core technology of the 4th industrial revolution, to the disabled in our city. We hope that the quality of life for many people will improve through robotic rehabilitation.”
Bongseonsa Chogyuk, the head of the operation of the Namyangju Northern Welfare Center for the Disabled, said, “It is very meaningful to promote the robot rehabilitation project for the first time in a local government in northern Gyeonggi Province. I hope that through the rehabilitation robot, you will regain your precious self and take a step towards happiness.”
Meanwhile, the Namyangju Northern Welfare Center for the Disabled has been accepting applications for gait rehabilitation robot service for the disabled (15-65 years old) with physical and brain lesions in the region since November 22.
